Podcast interview with Jorgen Delman, China Studies, Copenhagen University, about how to handle relations with China without compromising our own ideals. Is Xi Jinping facing more internal opposition? [FREE ACCESS]
In this podcast (46 min), Jorgen Delman, is interviewed by the editor of Insightview.eu. Jorgen Delman is professor, PhD, China Studies, Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, at the University of Copenhagen. [Language: Danish.] We discuss whether Denmark and the EU's China policy has been created on the basis of "guidance", some say "misleading", by people with special interests in China? In the same context, the editor asks Jorgen whether Danish researchers have been naive in connection with research collaboration with China?

Whether one likes it or not, one cannot escape the fact that an authoritarian regime in Beijing has done well for decades. [See also an interesting ZDF documentary, Supermächte - Angst vor China?] In Denmark, for example, a few China experts have, indirectly, used China as an example to show that state capitalism has proven to be the most effective system - although at the same time they have been accused of ignoring millions of interned Uighurs in the province of Xinjiang.

‌The editor, therefore, asks Jorgen how Denmark and the EU, which are based on democracy, can work together with China, while President Xi Jinping oppresses his own people in Xinjiang and elsewhere? We also discuss whether the latest opposition towards President Xi Jinping from, among others, a famous former professor Cai Xia at the Central Party School in Beijing is more than just noise?
