Podcast interview with Morten Springborg, Thematic Specialist, about tech competition between China and the West, splinternet, 5G and how strong China's tech sector really is [FREE ACCESS]
This is one of two podcasts about China's leading global role in the tech sector. ‌‌In this podcast [38 min], Insightview has talked to ‌Morten Springborg, a Thematic Specialist at CWorldWide Asset Management. ‌We discuss the situation that the world moved away from a unipolar world with the US as the technology leader, to a bipolar world in which China plays a much larger role, and some would say a dominant role

‌We also discuss ‌where China has technological advantages compared to the United States and Europe and vice versa. In this context, we also touch on 5G and how strong the Chinese tech sector really is. The interview will try to answer questions such as whether banning Huawei might be too late? We discuss whether the cross-holdings of patents could make a "tech war" turn into a big mess [read also the articles, Huawei is demanding $1bn in patent fees from Verizon, and Huawei Threatens to Raise Patent Royalties on US Firms].

Morten Springborg has almost 30 years of experience as an investment professional, and has in more recent years developed the thematic investment framework for C Worldwide. His thematic focus areas over recent years have been technological acceleration, the rise of China and US-Chinese tech rivalry, energy transition, demographic change and the relative demise of Europe. ‌Morten Springborg has been a member of the Danish Government’s Energy Commission who was tasked to recommend to the Danish Government and Parliament suggestions for a new energy policy for the period 2020-30.

‌‌‌In the other podcast, Casper Wichmann, a sinologist with an MA degree in China studies from the University of Copenhagen, is asked exactly the same questions.
